What should be my skin care steps after my facial? I mean at home regimen, for oily skin? Till my next facial?

Depending on your skin type, here are some great masks to try. For oily skin use some plain Milk of Magnesia, rub it on and let dry, then rinse with lukewarm water. It absorbs oil wonderfully!

For Normal/combination skin mix one egg and 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal and a teaspoon olive oil until smooth. Spread on your face and leave 15 min then rinse.

For dry skin, mix one egg yolk, one teaspoon honey and a teaspoon olive oil and some vitamin E oil if you have it. Smooth on and leave on for 15 min. , rinse in lukewarm water and pat dry. If your skin is a bit dry you can put a dab or two of either olive oil, or any other light oil, or plain crisco if you want something heavier, on your moist skin after washing or a mask and your face is set without the $$ some people spend for the same look.

Cleanse, tone, moisturize. Use glycolic acid soap for oily skin, use twice a day. Use a toner at night with salicylic acid to prevent facial oil build up.

Moisturize once a day with a light cream. This will prevent your skin from being too dry, which can lead to acne break outs.

Home remedy for oily skin

Fruit acids have shown a positive effect in oily skin treatment. They remove oil from the skin and yet retain the moisture. Home remedies such as cucumber juice, lime juice and yogurt are effective in keeping oily skin under control. A mask of Aloe Vera, crushed strawberries and yogurt is an astringent for oily skin. Keep it on for about 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Some simple home remedies for oily skin:

1. Puree 1 egg white, 1-tsp. Lemon juice, 1-tsp. Mint and 陆 cucumber and apply it on the face for about 15 minutes.

2. A puree of fresh tomatoes works wonders on oily skin.

3. A facemask of tomato, lemon juice and oats must be applied on the cheeks, forehead and chin. Scrub your face with warm water. This home remedy for oily skin is ideal for blemishes.

4. A clay mask is yet another home remedy for oily skin since it draws out excess oil.

5. If your skin is excessively oily, mix in a few drops of eau de cologne. This not only helps keep oiliness away but also helps in refining the pores of the skin by acting as astringent, thereby preventing acne.

Take a diet that is rich in proteins, with plenty of leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Restrict sugar and high-fat foods and junk food. Supplement your food with wheat germ, nutritional yeast and whole grains, beans and nuts. Drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

Make up for oily skin

Choose cosmetic and facial care products specifically designed for oily skin. Use oil-free moisturizers for a shine-free complexion. You can use an antiseptic day cream before applying makeup to oily skin. This will keep sebaceous secretions under control. Makeup for oily skin hinges on creating a matte effect.

You must use foundations that block out shine and non-pore clogging formula. Use concealer to hide blemishes and spots. Loose powder can keep you looking fresh all day long and absorb the excess oil too. Most women with oily skin cant do without this makeup item. Powder blushes work well on oily skin than cream blushers.

Treatment for oily skin

There is no magical cure for oily skin. Regular care and appropriate treatment of oily skin can go a long way in keeping it clean and blemish free. Massage your face with upward and outward motions when cleansing it. Using warm water to dissolve skin oil while washing it is a good treatment for oily skin. But do not use very hot water as it can strip the skin of essential oils. Do not expect results overnight. What is required is a holistic treatment of oily skin - internally and externally.

# White or pink clay masks gently cleanse oily skin of excess oil. The darker brown clay masks are stronger and more effective on very oily skins. Apply a clarifying face mask couple of times a week.

# Aromatherapy oils such as lemon, rosemary and cedarwood are said to be effective in treating oily skin. A few drops of any of these oils combined with lanolin can be massaged into the skin.

# Topical Vitamin derivatives with ingredients such as tretinoin and isotretinoin are prescribed by dermatologists to tackle sensitive oily skins.

# Products containing Benzoyl Peroxide also form part of the treatment for oily skin. They unplug pores and reduce bacteria.

# Antibiotic creams and lotions such as erythromycin and clindamycin are effective in treating blemished oily skin.

# Lotions containing AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) can help oily skin become softer and smoother.

How to cure a pimple

1. Wash you skin thoroughly and pat it dry with clean towel.

2. Wrap an ice cube in a washcloth and hold it over the spot for a minute or two; it'll help bring down the swelling.

3. Dip the end of a cotton swab into some diluted tea tree oil (available at any pharmacy, and trust me, this oil was meant for the skin!) and dot a tiny amount directly into the pimple.

4. Leave it alone to heal. Don't pop, pinch, or squeeze pimples, it will only make it worse. If pimple is still not healing, try using concealer to hide it. Don't choose concealer darker or lighter than your natural skin tone, or you'll draw attention to the problem. Here are the steps to using concealer:

~ If the pimple is dry and crusty, apply a little petroleum jelly (like vaseline) first to soften it.

~ Apply the concealer to the pimple using a clean cotton swab. (Don't apply concealer on areas around the spot that don't need it or you'll just create a ';halo effect';.)

~ Pat some face powder over the concealer to set it and help it stay put all day long.

Hope this helps! Tell me what the results of this medication is after you do it.
Green clay (for face masks) is good for oily skin. White clay is good for dry skin.

Same here, except the other way around - i've been using natural stuff and found it didn't work, but now it sort of is.

If you're in England (or if they have one of these wherever you are), go to the Body Shop. They tell you the range of products to get for your skin type, and they're really good!

Tea Tree oil products are good for oily %26amp; blemished skin, and seaweed products for normal to oily I think. (:
I hear ya!!!! i am tried about everything under the sun and nothing ever worked or nothing ever kept it gone.

My skincare routine:

Cleanser: Basis....this is just a bar of soap that matches your pH level of your skin....so it wont dry out your face(if you don't use moisturizer though it will) This cleanser seems simple and it is not meant to fight acne...but in a sense it does...it really cleans your face well without drying out your face...i didnt believe my mom when she recomended it...but man does it work wonders

Toner: Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner...really any toner you prefer is ok...but this it the one i use. Start from the top of your face and go towards the temples...aslo with cheeks...go towards the temples...then on chin go in circular motions only(not making it up...this is what you are supposed to do whenever applying anything to your face) This will take off the dead skin and make your pores smaller(helps with the dirt getting in) It also leaves face really smooth and nice looking!!!!

Moisturizer : Sheer Cover Oil Free Moisturizer...again any moisturizer will be good...just as long as it is oil free, made for the face, does not have any acne fighting agents in it. Dot it all over face then apply just like i said with the toner. Moisturizing can really halp fighting the acne. Did you know that dry skin is actually a cause for acne and pimples? The dry skin will actually clog your pores and therefore cause a breakout. Dont listen to people saying you just need to dry your face out...its a lie.

Facial scrub: Oatmeal and Sugar....seriously...this is the BEST scrub i have ever had....just take oatmeal and grind it into a powder and the add Sugar( more Sugar if you want more of a scrub...less if you just want something soothing) then add a little water and make like a paste( not too thick and not too thin) Rub on your face for like 3 minutes then rinse with warm water...put moisturizer on right afterward and your face will feel so refreshed and soft!!!!! Do it about once a week. Dont rub too hard or you will damage face. The oatmeal is for sootheing for face of redness and dry skin. The sugar is for exfoliation.

Steam your face for about 5 to 10 minutes a week. Mousturize right after you steam. This will open your pores and get all the dirt and grim out. It also helps with dryness. Dont steam and use the scrub on the same day. It is best to use it on seperate days. Dont ask me why...just figured it out. =)

I suffer a little more from dry skin...but yet it can get oily at times...but with this routine has been great....and now i don't have a single blemish or patch of dry skin!!!!! It is amazing!!!!! Do this routine( excluding the scrub and steam) twice a day. Your skin will clear up...but in about a week or two your face will break out and that is a good sigh. This is because all of the dirt is getting out of your skin. Just keep with it and it will pay off in the long run...i have great skin right now(used to have horrible skin...i could have seriously been on one of those acne comercials it was so bad)...but now i have stuck with this routine and my skin is now soft and smooth!!!!!!!

Tips:

Vitamin E(taking it and also rubing on face) is really good for your skin

Olive oil is also good(rubbing on face...wamred...rinsed with warm water

Taking fish oil is also good

Try not to touch your face....it pushes the dirt into your face

Whereing your hair out of your face also helps with blemishes

Does anyone how I may contact Dermitage (skin care(facial products) to receive my refund?

I called and canceled any future orders of Dermitage facial/skin care products, because, simply put, I did not notice any change on my face within the allotted trial period. The Dermitage company also stated. to return any unused or empty product, as I have done %26amp; paid the S %26amp; H charges that incurred to mailing back their product. (I kept my mailing receipt for tracking purposes). I called Dermitage and, explained why I choose to return merchandise, be it used or empty. I was given a RMA # for confirmation and to put on package for the purpose of shipping and handling before the specified date of Saturday, December 6, 2008. I had an inclination urging me to check my bank account. I did and nearly fainted, because they DID take out the full purchase price of the product shipped to me in the amount of $89.95! I cannot afford to fatten unscrupulous pirates' pockets. The product purchase price of $89.95 (for just those ';trial'; small jars, which is the ACTUAL PRODUCT), caused an overdraft which infuriates me to no end. Now, I am ready to take legal action. The tele. # they gave me only rings, NO ONE ANSWERS.

This only makes legitimate businesses skeptic to advertise their product. The consumers will bypass all interaction of such with the impression that they will get RIPPED OFF. Does anyone how I may contact Dermitage (skin care(facial products) to receive my refund?
A subpoena, lawyer, and a little patience always does the trick if you want wee bit more than a $89.95.

If you want to take a shot to this company though, blogging on almost every blog out there, get the word out, make a youtube (TM!) video for heavens sake, slab a fine girl on the front and clicks will be coming like there's no tommarow.

Using the web as your resource is a fine tool in combating difficult predators such as this ignorant company.

You need to see a dermatologist.

Is my dermatologist right on facial skin care?

My dermatologist told me that when the skin on our face becomes dry and flaky, we should NOT apply moisteriser as that makes the flakes of dead skin stick back down and clogs the pores. Instead, she said it is better to apply nothing to the face that night, so the skin can renew itself or to apply a very light serum. I was astonished as I thought the answer to dry flaking skin was to moisterise. Is she right or is she talking nonsense? I thought a serum moisterised anyway? Is my dermatologist right on facial skin care?

Sounds like 'derma-babble' to me. Make sure your skin is squeaky clean, and use a non-greasy moisturizer at night. Try to get about an hour of sunshine on your face every day, but not around the noon 'peak' hours. It's good for your skin, and helps your body to make vitamin D.

Best oil for facial care (sensitive skin)?

Nobody agrees :) Some say jojoba, some macadamia, some primrose oil, argan oil, etc. I'm allergic to coconut and shea butter. Which oil do you suggest? Thanx

PS) Is it true you can spoil your skin if you use oil as a moisturizer every day?Best oil for facial care (sensitive skin)?
Jojoba oil is supposed to be closest to your natural skin oils.

I personally use Olay for sensitive skin because it also has sunscreen in it.

http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_p鈥?/a>Best oil for facial care (sensitive skin)?
I use this stuff called Soothing Sauce from Bath-a-holic. It is natural with botanical extracts and essential oils mixed with gentle carrier oils. It gets rid of rough red patches and it also helps razor burn (for men face, legs, bikini line etc.). No you cannot spoil your face by using oils every day. It was the original moisturizer. The only way you can hurt your skin is if you continually use something that is irritating it, no matter whether natural (shea butter or coconut) or chemical.

    check out www.bath-a-holic.com.
I cant use oil because I have very sensative skin, my pores clog easilly and I hate the feel of oil. I use a moisutrizer called Cetaphil. Its oil free and fragarant free, its used by people with allergies and eczema, my doctor recommended it and I will never go back to anything else.
I have never heard of oil being good for the skin 99% of people that have oily skin try to get rid of it and people that have dry skin use a moisturizer which is a lotion not oil. So i doubt oil would be any good for your skin.

What is the proper way to care for your skin? What is a facial?

    For a woman!

What is included in a daily facial/skin care routine?

    Does it go like this?

    Wash with scrubbing stuff

    Wash with facial soap

    Wash with cleanser

    Put on lotion

    Put on eye cream

    Put on sunscreen

    Put on makeup

How is this supposed to go?

What exactly is a facial anyway? What is the proper way to care for your skin? What is a facial?
Before we start with the proper daily step-by-step skincare routine, you'll need to know her skin type. How you care for your skin is utterly dependent on the type of skin you have: oily, normal/combination, dry, sensitive or sun- damaged.

    The characteristics of skin are:

    Normal to Dry:

Normal – Not too oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Dry – Due to sun and age, skin may lack natural oils. May look smooth with fine pores, few blackheads and blemishes.

    Normal to Oily:

Normal – Not oily or dry, few blemishes, skin is firm and is generally smooth with small pores. Oily – Shiny and coarse, may have recurring blackheads and enlarged pores, often youthful looking.

    Combination:

Oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Normal to dry around cheeks and throat. Can be oily along chin, jaw, temples and dry elsewhere.

    Acne/Blemishes:

Generally oily. Blackheads and pimples. Potential scarring and pitting.

    Sensitive:

Extremely delicate. Broken capillaries, veins and vessels beneath skin surface. Should not be over stimulated.

    Mature:

Fine lines. Loose, “crépe-like” appearance. Loss of elasticity.

After choosing your skin type now we can proceed with the step-by-step for a good skin care regimen. This is my skin care regimen from Arbonne http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com

You silly- you just go to your local auto parts store and buy a quart of motor oil. It works wonders, been using if for years.
i just wash my face everyday and night

a facial is just a special mix that cleans your face. a facial mask dries up and then you peel it off after about 10 or 20 mintues
Not the sunscreen part! A facial is when they put a mask that smoothes and cleans your skind! Sometimes they out makeup on you!
    you QT pie!!

before bed: you do want a gentle exfoliant (nothing with walnut shell or peach pits, use an oat bar or something like it) then an eye cream and facial moisturizer.

in the morning: just pure cool water, then a light moisturizer. a good one will have spf in it.

doing too much to your face will irritate it.

drink lots of water, don't smoke, keep alcohol moderate.

getting a facial lets a professional do it deeper and involves extractions and a masque. these are good also in moderation, 6x per year tops.

Well since your just starting to use cleansers, go to the drug store and get something cheaper.

http://www.ultimate-cosmetics.com/beauty/skin-care/basic-skin-care.htmWhat should be your skin care steps after your facial? I mean at home regimen, for oily skin? Till next facial
Daily regime should be cleanse, tone, moisturize with products specifically made for oily skin. Always be sure to moisturize, even with oily skin, otherwise your skin can dry out and get flaky. I like the Body shop's Tea Tree line, made for oily skin. Their moisturizer is light and not greasy.

Once or twice a week, scrub and use a clay mask in addition to the other three steps (these should be done between the cleanse and tone steps, I usually mask first then scrub). For a scrub I use the Body Shop's tea tree and for a mask I use Biore or Olay. If you have blackheads, I reccomend Biore's nose strips twice a week.

Before my first facial a year ago, I washed my face every other day and did nothing else and I had a bunch of blemishes and really oily skin. Now I use that regime and mineral makeup that doesn't clog my pores, I get one blemish a month at the most (I used to get 2 or 3 a week). It works great, this past facial the lady told me I had the best teenage skin she had seen (I'm nearly 17). Good luck! What should be your skin care steps after your facial? Wash, moisturize with a non-oily moisturizer, and always always always wear sunscreen. Treat blemishes as needed.

Cleanse it with a gentle cleanser when you wake up and before you go to bed. Use a facial mask or a facial scrub once a week or maybe once every 5 days. Use moisturizer to keep your skin from getting dry or oily. (Skin hydrates itself with oil if you don't use a moisturizer, making your skin oily.)

Imperfections include acne, acne scars, chicken pox scars, and sometimes uneven skintones. Acne can be treated with cleanser, there are apecial cremes for acne scars, I don't think you can do anything for chicken pox scars, except maybe laser treatment, and try Aveeno skintone treatments for uneven skintones.

First I would recommend working on unwanted facial hair, like the uni-brow that can pull or dry out your skin underneath. Go out and by a small woman鈥檚 disposable razor, because their slightly sleeker and use its tips at angles to shape your eyebrows and other unwanted facial hair into a more natural and desired shape. Then I recommend buying a small travel size bottle of moisturizing conditioner. Using a Q-Tip, dip it in to the conditioner and apply it to the areas of your facial hair that meet your skin. Work it in like you would shampoo on you scalp then rinse it out. (This is best to do in the shower)

Next Zits and Cuts on your Face. For cuts I would use antibiotic clear creams like Neosporin that you can鈥檛 see, put a drop amount on a Q-tip and rub it lightly on the cut. Wait for the cut to heal before putting on any alcohol or make-up products that might make it irritable. For Zits I鈥檇 buy a Zit Healing/Fighting Facial Wash. Creams and Lotions just makes your face oilier. The best Brands for these products are Clean %26amp; Clear漏, Neutrogena漏, or a little unknown brand called Zap It! 漏 (The last one is really strong.) Also wash your face constantly but don鈥檛 dry to hard letting it be a little damp for a few minutes before completely drying it can let it get the moisture it needs.

Last for oily skin, I recommend you wash your face a lot and try not to use any lotions or oily make-up on it. (If you have to wear your make up put a light coat or powder or oil-free foundation on your skin first, to protect it.) Also buy a rough loufa (Sp?) like glove to scrub your face with in the shower; this will exfoliate dry %26amp; dead skin that adds oil to your face. You can find these at any Wal-Mart漏, Target漏 or Bed, Bath %26amp; Beyond漏. They are extremely helpful. Also make sure you keep you lips moist and not chapped, because some say that may make the rest of your skin feel dry. Thought I鈥檓 not sure about that one. Lastly don鈥檛 overly touch your face with oily or sweat fingers and other items, it will just be absorbed by your skin.

    I hope this Helps.
Wash it regularly (at least once in the morning and in the night), bath or shower every day, maybe use facial wipes and use a moisturiser in the night. That's what I started doing a few weeks ago and my skin is MUCH better =]
Au-Naturel is definately best for your skin.

Try having a shower every second day, and washing your face with plain water and maybe non-allergic soap every morning when you wake up and every night when you go to bed. Washing your face too much can make the skin raw and sometimes make everything worse. Try not using any skin creams or anything thing that might have a chemical. Normal soap and water. Works every time.

    Good Luck!
    to prevent aging,

you should soak your face in a shitake mushroom powder and honey. grind some dry shitake mushrooms and add about a teaspoon of honey with a 2 1/2 cups water. wash face regularly.

since this is all natural there's no funny chemicals + it's cheaper than most the top brand name products.
    I cleanse and moisturize everyday.

Use an aspirin mask or eggs mask.

Aspirin mask contains salicyclic acid like many other acne products.

Egg mask contains sulfur which also tackles acne like the DDF Sulfur Mask. The yolk acts as a natural moisturizer.

After hot showers, the skin on my face gets very dry and whitish in areas which then flakes.

Does anyone know a good skin care treatment for black heads and dull facial akin?

my skin is dry and dull and i have black heads on my noseDoes anyone know a good skin care treatment for black heads and dull facial akin?
well it can be pricy, but i've used dior hydraction which honestly realllllly helped my dull over tired skin. you can also use pore strips, i have and they're really good. they literrally take the little suckers of your pores but not all. also try doing a simple avacado mask:

    1-2 pulps of an avacado

    mush em up!

then apply evenly on the face

    wash off after 15-20 minutes

have fun!Does anyone know a good skin care treatment for black heads and dull facial akin?
Products at blackskin.com are really great. Browskin.net stuff are good too. www.blackskin.com stuff use glycolic acid with is a gentle exfoliate that helps the dark spots and dull facial skin fade faster. Report Abuse

instead of using a gel type treatment i sometimes use wipes they are just as good and arent so messy . and they really work ! you can get them from boots and any chemist should sell them your skin will look much better quite quickly. good luck!

What is the best facial skin care line you have used?

I have been using Pro-Active for about 5 months now. I'm not completely impressed. I wash my face at least 1x a day and do the mask every couple days, but It doesn't seem to make my skin look...its best. I have also been using this cream called ';colostrum cream'; and it was suppose to balance my skin out - however, i just notice it makes my skin look oily.

What is the best facial skin care line that really gets the job done? I don't want zits coming up every other day! My skin is pretty average, not too dry and not to oily.

Purpose brand face wash %26amp; moisturizer has worked best for me. That combined with plain old 2.5% benzoyl perozide (NOT the maximum strength 10% they try to sell...all that does is ruin your skin and create more acne). Both are extremely mild.

I have suffered from acne on and off for 15 yrs (I am 29). Visit www.acne.org...honestly, that is the best resource for anyone with acne. You will get TONS of ideas and help. That's where I found out that mild face wash and simple 2.5% BP works for me, and for most people. Check it out!
try Shiseido. my whole family uses it and they all used to have bad acne and zits and once they used it heir skin totally cleared up. it works amazing, and its not that expensive at all. good luck :)
I really like Boscia. That's what I use, and I love it. If you have acne, get SensiClear lotion, too. Use the lotion from the SensiClear mixed with the Boscia to prevent pimples and still get the moisturizer.

    I hope this helps!
Aveeno, I use the Clear Compexion Foaming Cleanser every night, the only time I get breakouts is if I miss washing my face one night.
Decleor! Its a little pricey but totally worth it! I trained with a cosmetic company called skin truth which are also quite good and reasonably priced! Good luck
I use Victoria Principal.....Its AMAZING. I never get pimples and i actually stopped wearing foundation because my skin is perfect. You can get cheaper on ebay.....
I use Olay for sensitive skin, it works for me.

Advise on what facial skin care products to buy for premature ageing?

Im really worried about how fast im ageing, what can i do?

im 31 , but had quite a stressful life....feel ive aged early or prematurely.

dark lines under my eyes , from the corner of my eyes to the cheekbones , that have become quite obvious to see.

yellowy , pasty skin, dry looking skin, blemishes , uneven skin tone, dry looking wrinkly skin.

    this is all my face.

a relative of mine said i dont look like this and that im ' imagining it ', that i look ok.

but for my own peace of my mind , is their a skin care product and a facial skin care procedure that you could advise ?

something thats easy to get from a chemist or high street, no messing around ordering things online from obscure sources.

i would like serious answers from people who know something about this

thanksAdvise on what facial skin care products to buy for premature ageing?
Prevention is the key. Also if you look after the inside, usually the outside will need less looking after. So here is what you need to do:

keep out of the sun and use at least sun factor 15 all year round

drink plenty of water throughout the day this will keep your skin hydrated

eat a healthy diet - fruit, vegetables, unprocessed food, and keep dairy, salt, saturated fats and wheat to a minimum

alcohol and smoking ages you prematurely

cleanse and moisturise your skin every day (face and neck twice a day)

use a face and body scrub twice a week, and a moisturising face pack once a week

get fresh air and excercise as often as you can

keep stress to a minimum and get enough sleep

Try all the above and see the difference in just a couple of monthsAdvise on what facial skin care products to buy for premature ageing?
Firstly remember that your skin refects what you eat and drink, so look to your diet first.

Secondly anything you use on a regular basis will help - I currently like Boots Serum and day and night cream, along with the eye cream 9am 53) Also consider wearing a high factor sun screen at all times when you are outside., Sun damages ages skin fasssstttt
Anything with Retinal-A is suppose to do wonders on wrinkles. I haven't tried it yet but your description is exactly like mine so I've been reading all the tips in the magazines.

  • Easy question about facial skin care?

I use facial moisturizer every day, SPF 15.

And then I put on a light layer of liquid foundation.

I can't put moisturizer on after, it smears.

I'm really used to this routine, every morning before school.

Is my skin still getting the protection it needs?Easy question about facial skin care?
Yes, your skin is getting the protection. However, you're doing the very minimum. Here's sharing with you an advanced skincare regime before applying makeup to preserve your face in tip-top condition.

After cleansing your face (with cleanser),

    Step 1: Toner

Step 2: Eye gel / cream

Step 3: Essence / Ampoule (ampoule can be used once a week)

    Step 4: Moisturiser

Step 5: Water-based hydra booster (to lock the moisture in your skin) (optional)

Step 6: Moisturiser (for double protection)

Step 7: Sunblock (use foundation with higher SF then skip this if you want)

    Finally... foundation with SPF.

I've started this skincare regime since 21 years old. Now at 27, people are all saying I look like 21 and not more than 24 years old even though I use makeup regularly. My advice is to give your face the due skincare attention it deserves in exchange for a beautiful makeup face.Easy question about facial skin care?
It sounds like the perfect routine for you. It really depends on if it works. If it works you should stick with it. If It doesn't try going to OlayForYou.com and it can tell you what products are right for you by taking a small skin quiz. So It really sounds like you are getting the right protection. Also it depends on how sunny it is. SPF 15 may be good for Autumn, Spring, And winter but you may want to get like SPF 30 moisturizer for summer =]
1 layer of lotion is plenty! makeup already protects ur face, btw. ur body needs some sunlight to make vit. d. i wear face lotion w/sunscreen in it every day, and in the summer, i simply put on regular sunscreen on my arms %26amp; other exposed skin.
Nope. You don't put moisturizer on after foundation, you put it on before! Its so important to wear moisturizer under your makeup, it will help prevent any breakouts and clogging. Do you set your foundation with a powder?

What are the advantages/differences of getting a facial from a Clarins skin care expert from a dermatologist?

besides trying to sell you products afterwards...

thanks for your help! What are the advantages/differences of getting a facial from a Clarins skin care expert from a dermatologist?
A Clarin's skin care expert, is not necessarily a dermatologist so she/he can't treat your skin or tell you about any problems.

They mostly recommend products that might be good, or teach you how to do a nice make up.

The difference is, with a dermatologist, you can ask specific questions about your skin condition. If you're having acne, eczema, rosecea or other problems, the dermatologist can prescribe medication, unlike Clarins.

The advantage with Clarins, is that you can often get a FREE consultation, and the waiting period is not long

Although with a real skin doctor, it may be costly if you're covered with insurance. What are the advantages/differences of getting a facial from a Clarins skin care expert from a dermatologist?
I think a Clarins expert will try to sell your the products while helping you - with daily advice.

A derm. will likely try to treat you as much as she/he can too - writing harsher 'scripts and using products too.

I think if the clarins person has done this awhile she has a gift to knowing skin and products.

A Derm is there if you need him. (severe issues) brands can't help you with).

All you have to say is no thanks. Unless you truly benefit from the facial - and loved a product. It's worth it.
Not sure what ';Clarins'; is, but I'm assuming it's a direct sales' company? Obviously, the rep wouldn't have a doctor's degree, however, she/he may have some great testimonies from customers who may have had success with the same type of skin problem you have. The down-side, she'd like to make a sale, and hopefully she would be honest enough to tell you it may or may not work for your skin condition. The products she sells you may or may not cause more skin irritation than you already have. Maybe she has a sample you could try for a couple of days, just to see if you have good results? This is a great benefit of a consultant, is that the products are typically ';try before you buy';.

From a consultants' point of view: I have many customer testimonies about our products (particularly our Satin Shea Body Butter %26amp; our Lotion Bars) helping with Scorriacis(sp?) and Eczema. I'm not a DR, and can't guarantee the same results for you, but I could tell you what my customers' recommended, and you'd also have a chance to ';try before you buy';.

On the other hand, a Dermatologist would be the expert on how to treat a skin-care problem, or get down to the bare bones of WHY you have this problem. Would likely treat it with a prescription medication, which may or may not work for you, may cause other skin irritations, or can be VERY costly. Your prescription may or may not be covered by your insurance, and may not ';feel'; good on your skin (slimy, or oily feel).

These would be the major differences I'd see in using a Skin Care Consultant vs. a Dermatologist. Either direction has it's pluses and minuses.

Help with facial skin care ?

what are some simple face products i could go buy or get to Even my Skin tone on my face,

cause i have lots of acne scars . . =(

something that wont clog pores . .

thanksHelp with facial skin care ?
Chemical skin peeling would even out skin tone and remove acne scars. There are safe skin peeling regimens that can be done at home provided you follow the directions well. You will see the results in 7-10 days. You can also peel using Retinoic acid, this will take a longer time but is more available over the counter.

Avon puts out a product to reduce acne scars - go to www.avon.com to find a representative.

I know that Proactive, a bit more expensive, works great for the outbreaks. I am not sure about the scars. I would definitely look into this product!!
    All great suggestions.

Arbonne also makes a great men's and acne regime that also comes with a daily supplement to combat acne before it starts..and Clinique for men has a great exfoliant - that may help with the scars- [?]

Find pure and natural products and do a weekly mask

and a bi weekly exfoliant (not on mask day) this helps skin turn over - and cell rejuvenation -

You can even start your regime with applying a clean compress (heat in micro for double warmth) to open pores.

I am not sure about your scars the most important part is taking care of your skin daily, twice a day!

A toner (witch hazel + natural items) really helps too.
    THIS WORKS FAST %26amp; CHEAP!!!

I used Tetracycline, Proactive, Retina A and had many expensive facials with less than good results. This has worked for me and many many other happy people.

Go to pharm., Drug store, or Wal-Mart, buy ';PURPOSE'; bar of soap - Blue box - Made by Johnson %26amp; Johnson - wash your face with this 2-3x's per day. Also pick up a LOW strength Benzoyl-peroxide cream, apply the cream by dabbing to the individual blemishes.... DON鈥橳 rub it in works using a oxidation/reduction reaction. It will unclog

dry it out and bring it to a head...DON鈥橳 over use this or put anywhere else on your face. It will cause drying and make you look worse.

Salicylates such as found in regular aspirin among other products work very similar but also remove layers of skin...other over the counter creams with this product will dry out pimples but maybe too hash and cause surrounding skin trauma..

I have seen many people recommending crushing aspirin and making a paste which probably will dry out the blemish but again pretty strong and probably will cause more tissue damage and bigger scars as an anti inflammatory probably would take the redness out... again pretty harsh for sensitive skin.

Also, If need which probably will for moisture ASK FOR ';NUTRADERM lotion'; - the original not the new stuff, this works great and wont clog pores or leave a residue on your skin...Any lotion that is completely oil free and hypo allergic should work but again I recommend Nutraderm. I have heard from people online that ';Purpose'; also makes a lotion that is good, Neutrogena, and Nivea make good products also. I recommend Nutraderm from experience and my dermatologist.

';Purpose Bar'; %26amp; ';Nutraderm'; are oil free and hypo allergic they contain no perfumes and are great for both men and women. I have also heard great reports of this soap helping improve skin tone. Some people recommend the ';Purpose liquid soap'; saying

that the bar did dry out their skin some. The rational behind using the bar is that there are no ingredients in it that will clog pores, and according to dermatologists they recommend the Bar. I have also heard good responses from ';cetaphil soap';. These products are safe for all skin colors and tones. I highly discourage use of Proactive and other harsh chemicals for people with some natural color in their face due to the bleaching and drying effect it has shown in many many people.

Additional TIPS: acne, pimples, etc are frequently cause by a bacteria or hormone issues that cause clogging of pores. DON鈥橳 PICK POP POKE (your hands are the dirtiest part of your body) and will cause: infections, spreading of germs, more breakouts and scarring

DON鈥橳 EVER listen to people online who tell you to scrub your sensitive skin or use harsh chemicals such as: Lemon juice, vinegar, alcohol, etc... DON鈥橳 EVER use that APRICOT CRAP!!! DON鈥橳 USE PROACTIVE- this is expensive and harsh it may kill the bacteria because also Benzoyl based wash but will irritate skin and cause bleaching of face and neck.... Other similar treatments may work.. Also things such as Accutane but have SERIOUS side effects such as Major Depression, %26amp; birth defects in unborn children, among others

If you wear make up make sure it is oil free, %26amp; hypo allergic...Eating healthy...Drinking plenty of water.. Changing pillow cases freq. ...avoiding dirty sports equip. such as helmets...can not hurt...Acne/pimples again are caused by pores/hair follicles becoming plugged up, this plugging then causes an inflammatory reaction - redness and infection (pimple)..black head is dirt or old oil trapped in pore, while a white head is the same thing you just don鈥檛 see the dirt instead you see white pus (lymphocytes that accumulate in the area to fight the infection) It has been shown in many studies this most often not caused by what you eat (chocolate etc... or how clean you are) but most often by either excess oils plugging pores or a bacteria on the skins surface. - Proactive works in some people because it is a strong Benzoyl peroxide based washed but is most freq. to strong

for people with sensitive skin - this is why alot of people get excessive drying and flaking, rashes, bleaching or breakouts from the product. Retina-A does decrease the bacterial growth on your face but also removes dead/living skin, this can work well in some individuals and has been shown to reduce wrinkles and scars but again I feel this is pretty harsh on sensitive skin prone to breakouts. If you choose Retina-A never use this product during the day only at night due to the sensitivity it will give you to the sun. You must also get a prescription for this product and I really don't believe it is worth the damage it does to your skin. In some rare cases for very deep/large boils and cyst types

of pimples oral antibiotics maybe needed but I would first recommend trying ';purpose'; and a low dose ';benzoyl-peroxide cream'; along with a good oil free moisturizer ';Nutraderm... etc'; this does work well.

THIS WORKS FAST AND CHEAP!!! I no longer get expensive facials, take oral antibiotics, or even NEED makeup... I am very happy - Have very good skin... and have many many other happy friends... THANKS again to my WONDERFUL DERMATOLOGIST... TRY THIS!! GOOD LUCK.... PS. ';PURPOSE'; costs about $3 ----------------------------------------鈥?br>

    Advice on facial skin care?

Basically, in high school I had some acne but it wasn't too bad and I'm still alive from it. In senior year and my freshman year of college, my skin cleared up and it was great! Now, it has been a year since then and my acne has come back. I wake up in the morning and i have some white heads, red/brown spots (i think they're called acne pigment scars- i've been doing research) on my cheeks and chin.

My regimen goes like: once morning, once at night

    -neutrogena oil free acne wash

    -olay regenerist micro sculpting cream

every night I have been alternating with Julep mint masque and the proactiv refining mask

Anything I should add or substitute? I just started with the masks and i used to use aveeno something moisturizer for a few months and nothing good really came out of it so i switched.

any good tips would be helpful too!Advice on facial skin care?
-Change your pillowcase often if you sleep with your cheek pressed to the pillow throughout the night: you won't believe how much bacteria and oil can settle on your pillowcase over the course of the week, that just ends up rubbing right back onto your face and creating more acne. It's better to just sleep on your back, though I'll admit I miss sleeping on my side. It's way more comfortable. :(

-Drink a lot of water. I thought it was just another stupid myth when people said that it helped to drink water, but really, it does help. It flushes out a lot of impurities within your body and leaves you feeling fresh. :)

-Hmm, I'm not sure about what medication you should be using since it varies from person to person. What might be good for one person might not be good for another person. I found, for example, that Neutrogena often dries up my face. :( But my skin might just be sensitive.

-Visit a dermatologist and see what they have to say! :) They'll be able to provide you with far more beneficial information than anyone on Yahoo! Answers can!

Good luck!Advice on facial skin care?
i think you're doing a great job seems like you're really caring for your skin. fresh fruit and vegetables and also fish are very good for your skin and improve the quality.

best tip i've heard: moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
    1. You might want to test the products that you been using or added

to your daily routine because maybe one of the products is breaking

    your skin out again.

    2. Make an appointment with a dermatologist if you keep

    having problems.
Minocycline may work. It is a medication that kills acne-causing bacteria. It works from the inside, not the outside like lotions do. You need a prescription from a dermatologist, though. I used to use it for five years. But my acne is very severe, so I had to switch to something stronger.

If your skin is oily (like mine is), you may want to use oil-free wipes every once in a while throughout the day when your skin gets extra oily. That might help decrease the build up of oils on your face so your acne isn't as bad.

Drinking lots and lots of water usually works. One time, I drank water nonstop and my acne was cleared up! Don't drink too much water though; that's not good for you. Just drink a bit more than the recommended eight-8 ounce glasses per day.

I heard that mud masks, like those you get at spas, really help get rid of acne, including acne on your back and neck, too. I'm pretty sure you can buy a tube of the mud mask in stores, just like you can buy mint julep masques.

Putting a little toothpaste (just a little!) on some of your pimples before going to sleep at night will help dry up the pimples, therefore speeding up the healing time. Don't put too much on, though: I did that once and I woke up and my face felt too dry and like it was burning. Just put a little bit on.

Make sure to change your pillowcase every 2, 3, or 4 nights because oil and dry skin get absorbed into it (ewww!!), which can cause acne or worsen existing blemishes. Also, wipe off your cell phone and house phone with some cleaner and a cloth since there's oil build-up on them. Avoid touching your face. Keep your hair out of your face.

    Hope this helped!
I personally hated Proactive! I tried it 3 times and it never worked, only made things worse!

I use Cetaphil skin cleanser morning and night (in the morning I use it with a facial loofah for some light exfoliation)

Then I use either green tea (great for irritated skin), or 1 part apple cider vinegar to 8 parts distilled water (good for keeping skin clear), or Alba hibiscus facial toner (very refreshing), depending on what I'm dealing with.

Spot treatments- Dip q-tip into some organic apple cider vinegar and soak pimple overnight....or...

Burt's Bee's herbal blemish stick w/ tea tree oil

Julep mint masque works good too, but if you use it too much you'll irritate your skin too much and the breakouts will be more constant. Give your skin time to heal and rest from all the masques.

Exfoliation-- about once or twice a week use about a teaspoon of sugar mixed with a little bit of warm water in your palm and scrub your face GENTLY until the sugar dissolves.

Moisturizer-- Every so often you can dip a cotton ball into some skim milk and use it as a moisturizing toner.

For everyday moisture however, I recommend Cetaphil lotion (my dermatologist recommended it to me years ago and I'm sticking to it. I love the stuff.)
I've been trying more natural products on my face lately and I've noticed a pretty big improvement in my skin. It's much more consistently clear now that I'm using less chemical filled products, especially watch out for things with sulfates, they are very drying.

I've been using the Burts Bees tomato complexion soap, witch hazel for a toner and to soak up excess oil, and Cetaphil daily lotion with some jojoba oil mixed in.

The witch hazel has been especially effective though at clearing up breakouts but not drying out my combination skin.
You may be doing too much to your skin and causing an irritation type of acne. Some time's a little is better then a lot.

    I've only had acne two times in my life. Once when I moved to Colorado and my skin was overly dry. I had to make sure not to ';over mask my face.';

The other time was when I was pregnant and nothing seemed to work. I tried every expensive type of facial skin care regimens you can think of. Out of desperation I went into an Ulta store and talked to a cosmotologist and she said that she had the same problem. Her dermatologist told her to stop everything and just use Oil of Olay gental foaming face wash and the original daily lotion. She said this worked and she has never changed her skin care since. I also tried this and it worked and it's been 4 years and my skin is great. I did however change to the facial cloth because it does exfoliate for you as well so you can do the mask less often.

Maybe trying less chemical on your face will help you too. Good luck
